Photo 1: Tuesday, 9/2/2025: The peacock on Jack and Pats front lawn. We drove from Mequon to Green Bay, WI to pick up Jack and Pat. (photo by Amy)

Photo 2: We arrived at the Colonial House, St Ignace, after driving about 8 hours from Mequon, WI and 6 hours from Green Bay, WI.

Photo 6: Across the street along the boardwalk I find this poster that illustrates the early ferries that linked St Ignace to Mackinac City, on the mainland of Michigan. Prior to 1957, before the completion of the Mackinac Bridge, this was the only way across.

Photo 7: The Ottawa sitting at the dock in the early morning, before the start of operations.

Photo 8: Panorama--the water is so calm and clear. You can see the west tip of Mackinac Island in the distance.

Photo 9: Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia species).

Photo 10: Pink garden phlox (Phlox paniculata)

Photo 11: A white and yellow hollyhock (Alcea species).

Photo 15: The harbor with the yellow Windemere to the far left, the white Island House near the center, and Fort Mackinac up on the bluff.

Photo 16: We arrive at Windemere in the rain. This is the view off the front porch with the Island House to the left, the Round Island to the right and Bois Blanc Island in the distance, between the two trees.

Photo 17: Windemere, a photo taken probably in the late 1800s—look at the clothing!

Photo 18: The same view as earlier, but now the rain has picked up giving a shroud that obscures Bois Blanc Island in the distance, between the two trees.

Photo 19: The straight looking to the right toward the Round Island Lighthouse.

Photo 20: Red and pink impatients

Photo 21: The Grand Hotel carriages are the most classy horse-drawn coaches on the island.

Photo 38: Thursday, 9/4/2025: I woke up around 1:30 am in the hope of seeing the Aurora Borealis--no such luck! Instead, I was treated by a bright moon and many stars. You can just make out the Mackinac Bridge lit up at night.
