Artimis II AI Slop

The following images have been culled from Facebook and other web sites. AI has created a real issue on the internet in which poor actors use AI to generate thousands of false images. The average user now has to sort through more than half of the AI slop to find the fewer images that are real. If you trace an image back to its source, you will see similar images all based on a common theme. I have been fooled several times, posting an image that I thought was real, only to pull it down a couple days later when I was able to scrutinize the image.

If you go to the following websites, you will see a series of false images based on the same common theme: Astro Science, Astro Verse, Beyond Space, Planetary Wonders and Space Vibe.

Image 1: Fake image: The moon is in the wrong phase, the earth is far too close, and North America was not seen on the way to the moon. Notice the eastern part of the U.S. is missing!

Image 2: Possibly real: I do not remember antartica being seen during this trip.

Image 3: Fake image: none of the photos were taken this far from the port window, the service module is in the wrong configuration, the earth is too close and the cloud relief too prominent.

Image 4: Fake image: The solar panels were never in this orientation. North America is on the earth where it should be Africa. The size of the earth is too large.

Image 5: Fake image: The moon is in a crescent phase but the earth is fully illuminated. The earth should be at night. Even if it were illuminated by moonlight, there should be lights visible in Nigeria and other African countries. The color and detail of the continents is too clear. The Orion capsule has never had this orientation with respect to the numerous cameras mounted on the European Service Module.

Image 6: Fake image: the moon is too bright and the phase is wrong. The size of the moon is too large, a size more reminiscent of when the moon is seen from earth near the horizon.

Image 7: Fake image: The earth is too large and bright.

Image 8: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 9: Fake image: The earth is too large.

Image 10: Fake image: The Service Module is incorrect. The rim of the portal is too much in focus. The earth is too illuminated. The moon is too close, given the fact that Orion was approximately 4,000 miles above the surface. The relief of the crater is far too prominent. Notice that 270 K people have liked this image, presumably believing that it is real.

Image 11: Fake image: this was billed as Orientale Basin. The color is wrong, the earth is too big and the phase is wrong, the moon is too close, the portal rim did not look like this.

Image 12: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 13: Fake image: The phase of the earth and moon are wrong, the craters are too large, the surface of the moon is too close.

Image 14: Fake image: The earth is in full phase, the illumination of the moon suggests that the earth should only be illuminated from its right.

Image 15: Fake image: the reflected image is wrong, the angle of the sun is wrong to illuminate both the phase of the earth and the shadow in the moon which are at different angles.

Image 16: Fake image: This is too obvious to give comment.

Image 17: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 18: Fake image: the horizon resembles the earth, the relief in the crater is too deep and too sharp, the mood surface is too close, and the service module is wrong.

Image 19: Possibly real: I do not recall a boom sticking out of the European Service Module, which places this in suspect. The moon and earth are lined up in a different axis than all other photos.

Image 20: Fake image: It crater and moon surface are far too close and the relief far too prominent. The surface of the moon is the wrong angle and magnification.

Image 21: Fake image: The base of the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) did not look like this, nor the nearby instrument panel. The dune buggy did not travel in a circle in this manner. The nearby craters are not in the proper proportion with respect to the LEM.

Image 22: Possibly real: This image has been shown several times by authoritative sites, but NASA has not posted this image. It could be real, taken from a telephoto lens. The jury is still out on this one.

Image 23: Fake image: The craters are too large, the surface of the moon is too close.

Image 24: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 25: Fake image: AI redrew the faces. Kristina and Victor only match by race, but not by facial features. The American Flag is wrong, and it should be the Canadian flag, not the NASA flag in the background. The cabin had far less room than in this image.

Image 26: Fake image: there are five astronauts in this image, assuming someone is holding the patch. The astronaut in the distance has no facial features. The capsule is the wrong configuration, and too roomy.

Image 27: Fake image: The direction of re-entry is wrong. The leading edge of the capsule is too large, it should look like a dot. The streak behind the capsule was not seen from the vantage of the ISS.

Image 28: Fake image: The capsule is still moving in the wrong direction!

Image 29: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 30: Fake image: The hatch has opened in the wrong direction. The dimension of the hatch is too thin. The five balloons on top are absent. There is no skirt or raft affixed around the spacecraft, which is the first thing that is done before the hatch is opened. The surrounding boats have too few people and none of them are in rubber suits, which is needed to jump into the water to secure the skirt. They are facing the camera, which is unlikely during a candid photo. The helicopter is flying way too close to the water, which never happened.

Image 31: Fake image: Obvious.

Image 32: Possible good fake: This image appears to be Christina Koch; however, she is somber. All the photos to date show that she had a smile from ear to ear and was in a jubilant mood.

Image 33: Fake image: there has not been enough time for this activity to take place. The capsule should still be inside the navel ship in San Diego. The city in the background resembles Cleveland, not a western city. It is unlikely police would let people line the thruway in this manner, especially at an elevated overpass.

Image 34: Fake image: this was is difficult to discern. If you go to the website NexaRoot USA, you will see multiple images using the same theme. Not all these photos can be real.

Image 35: Fake image: This is not how the capsule was recovered. It was recovered using an open section of the stern of the ship, and then hoisted aboard using a yellow crane. The scorch markes on the ouside are not accurate: the real image has scorched silver-yellow tape that has peeled.

Image 36: Fake image: Obfious.

Image 37: Fake images: A sample from a given website in which all the photos are false. Any new images posted from this site are likely to be fake.
